KB-VIT0002 - Citrix XenApp out of licenses, users unable to launch applications.
 
Problem: 
Customers on site launch Citrix Applications, but receive the following error: “Citrix Client Logon Message: Citrix XenApp License acquisition
error from server. All licenses are currently in use. Please try again later. If this issue persists, contact your system administrator to
acquire additional licenses.” Here is an example of the popup:
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
To check to see how many license you actually have in use, complete the following steps:
1.  Open a shell on your Citrix License Server.
2.  CD to “C:\Program Files (x86)\Citrix\Licensing\LS”.
3.  Enter the following command and press enter:  LMSTAT –a –c “C:\ Program Files (x86)\Citrix\Licensing\MyFiles”
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
4. The output should show you all of your Citrix XenApp servers. At the bottom of the output you should see the total number of licenses            issued, as well as how many are in use.
 
 
 
 
 
 
5.   Here we can see we’re over our license count by 54. Our users will continue to get the error until we’re below our issues number of                  licenses. If you think you may know a few 
 
Resolution:
1. Buy more licenses
2. Clear licenses with UDAdmin tool  (Now ctxtools).
a.  To view all users and devices using your licenses, enter the following command and press enter: udadmin –list
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
b. We know that Daisy no longer works here, so we can remove her license with the following command: udadmin –f XDT_PLT_UD –         user daisy –delete
 
 
 
*Be sure to change your service name from “XDT_PLT_UD” to whatever your service name is.
 
c.       You can do the same with devices, if needed.
